What is Direct Pediatric Care?

Zoomies Pediatrics is a membership-based Direct Pediatric Care practice.  We care for patients directly- NO middle man, NO wasted time and resources on coding, billing, or redundant insurance paperwork.  This allows our pediatrician the freedom to provide the kind of care that we believe will make the difference in quality, patient satisfaction, and reducing cost.

NO co-pays or confusing expensive sick visit charges.  The ultra-small practice gives you the attention and time to build a meaningful relationship with your pediatrician.  It's just a simpler approach to care, so that you can get what you need, when you need it.

Are your services paid for by my insurance?

Our care is based on a monthly fee structure.  There will be NO billing to insurance or any third parties.  Without the insurance restriction and contractual agreements, we are able to offer wholesale prices on lab tests and medication.

Do I still need insurance?

Yes, ZOOMIES is NOT a substitute for health insurance. We encourage all families to have insurance coverage.   Our pediatrician is out-of-network for all physician-related services and fees. For those with insurance, we recommend PPO plans which would allow us to coordinate your care best.   HMO plans are difficult and may refuse to pay for services eg: labs, imaging, prescriptions ordered by out-of-network physicians.  Please consult your health insurance advisor/representative to help guide you in your plan choice.

What if my child gets sick when we are out of town?

Because of the small patient panel, Dr. Quynh knows your child's medical history well.  If medically appropriate, she uses telehealth to evaluate, advise, and able to send prescriptions to the local pharmacy near you.

Do you see newborns in the hospital?

ZOOMIES Pediatrics does not currently participate in newborn rounding. She will see your first newborn visit after the hospital discharge in the safety and comfort of your home. Home visits for newborns are included in membership.

What services are not covered by membership?

Membership does not include vaccines or coverage for out-of-office procedures, labs, or medical services from other medical providers.  ER visits and inpatient hospitalizations are not covered in membership and are billed separately by those entities.

Services like medical ear piercing or osteopathic manipulative medicine are available for additional fees at discounted rate for members.

Can I cancel my membership and re-enroll?

Zoomies Pediatrics provides relationship-based care, Dr. Quynh is only able to accept a certain number of patients at a time to ensure quality of care for all her members.  Patients can stop their membership anytime as per their patient agreement.   However, if a patient wishes to re-enroll, they are subjected to a re-enrollment fee if approved and if space allows.

Why the name “ZOOMIES”?

The origin of our name started with Dr. Quynh’s observation of her puppy’s happy sprints and excitement as the little ball of fur zips around her home and backyard.  “Zoomies” is one of the most charming and entertaining canine behaviors, according to pet experts, it’s an expression of happiness and joy.  Dr. Quynh sees her new practice of medicine as a simple solution to care and her personal statement of Joy.
